Art Game II
This is a water colour painting by my cousin, Martha Outt Harns, done in 1987. She is now 87 years old & sadly, lives in a residential facility for Alzheimer’s Disease patients. I wanted to post this as part of the Art Game series as a tribute to the body of work that she left us. This painting shows some degree of Thai dance culture, in terms of the hand & finger positions, but the costume design, as I understand it, is her interpretation or composite of similar costumes from South East Asia.
Art Game III
This is a result of my point & click camera. The Art Game series has inspired me to record the art I see around me in San Francisco on a daily basis. Not all art has to be within the walls of a museum or a palace. It can be part of your daily life, if you let it. I call this one Kitty Cat Sidewalk, not knowing who created it, nor what (if any) name was given to it. It was taken not very far from where I work.
CODA: I had a funny, sweet, naughty, smartest-cat-in-the-world. Her name was Marnie, after the Alfred Hitchcock movie. To the best of my ability to know, the only thing she ever shoplifted was my heart. She was in my life for 15 years, before she died. I miss her very much. To Marnie, my little meow-face!

Atlas Stands Unnoticed Before The Holy Wisdom
I started this painting in 2007. It was rejected. I repainted it, after years of pain, in 2010, understanding it was growth which caused both the pain & the release of the cause of that pain. Now, the painting is free & in so being, it has released me from much sadness.

Art Game V Jay Defeo/The Rose
This monumental painting by artist Jay Defeo is one of the most astonishing & spiritually moving works of art I have ever experienced in my life. I first became aware of it several years ago by taking a class called Women In Art History, City College, San Francisco. It's history of having to be removed from an apartment here in San Francisco, due to the eviction of the artist & the story of having the bay window that was it's original backdrop setting removed & a crane used to hoist it to the street-level moving van added to my intrigue of the work. I was impressed by the photographs I had seen & by what I had read about the struggles of the artist. But NOTHING, NOTHING at all could have prepared me for the emotional & spiritual experience of seeing it in real life, real time, minus the bay window that was it's original backdrop. Much has been written about this work. The only thing I can add, with a tone of urgency is: Please, take the time to see this for yourself while it is back in San Francisco, at the Museum of Modern Art. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Photography can certainly show you what it looks like, but you need to experience this in person, as an active viewer, in order to be fully overwhelmed. My paltry words do not do it justice, not at all!

Art Game VI: Andy Warhol-Knockoff
This is a painting of Andy Warhol @ a cafe entrance on Divisadero Street, San Francisco. I liked the idea of it being more or less street art, not in a museum & not costing several millions of dollars. It's not signed. Post Mortem would make that a bit of a challenge, even freaky. Calling it a knockoff is a tip of the hat to Jean-Claude Van Damme & to Warhol, since they both did the same thing over & over & over. One was a genre artist, the other is an genre actor. Duplication must be in the wrist & the timing. Makes the term monetize seem rather quaint. Enjoy!
Art Game VI
No Smoking Sign. This is the international standard glyph for "No Smoking." It is simple & well designed, making it's simple message obvious to all who can see. Why is it still being ignored by people? This is a question for which there is no simple answer. I hope that by posting this work of functional art, the message can be repeated: You deserve to have a full life that does not include destroying your lungs or harming the environment. Think: if every tobacco field were turned into a forest, how good that would be for the planet! That, alone, is a very exciting concept. Help make it a reality!
Art Game VII-Princess Antoinette Bonaparte
I watched this film & have no idea what it was about.
It opens with some war some place in Eastern Europe & it rages on from one mindless fight scene (with fake looking special effects) after another. Its nothing but a bunch of expensive special effects all slogged together & called a film. I fell asleep multiple times.
Her Imperial Highness, The Princess Melita Bonaparte follows in the path left by her Grandmother, Princess Marie Bonaparte, The Princess Andrew of Greece. The Greek Republic, all the dictatorships that have come & gone their nasty way, have left her totally unfazed. “They were not true Greeks, they cared only about personal glory. I have only dumpsters for them,” she tells us.
“The so-called Republic is terrible. They treated us, their Royal Family, terribly. They let Tatoi Palce go rack & ruin. It is up to me to make it habitable once again, so show to the world that Greek Culture did not end with St Paul, but has evolved like others. We are a modern Constitutional Monarchy that has been bullied by greedy politicians. We are eager to return, live within our means, and want to give our lives in the service of the Greek people. It is only a matter of time that the clouds of lies with be lifted. Once that happens, we will be vindicated, and return to the people who love us, who have missed us–and never leave them again.”
With that, Princess Melita Bonaparte wasted no time demonstrating her construction skills with a bulldozer, in perparation to adding a new wing to Tatoi Palace. “It will be used mostly to house antiquities of the more recent centuries, since about 1000 A.D., explained the Princess. “With a history as ancient as ours is, you cannot just lump all things together. People need to be able to take things in, one Era at a time. We look forward to the time we can focus on these matters instead of dealing with mean crooks who take these items to auction houses, at the expense of our heritage.”
Princess Melita Bonaparte considers the heritage of Greece priceless. “All Eras must be given equal consideration. All have contributed to Greek culture as we know it today. It is my job as part of the Royal Family to make sure that this heritage is properly curated & stays in Greece.”
Princess Melita Bonaparte demonstrates that she is not afraid to work. ” I am married to Greek culture & ideals. I believe that a wedding dress should not be used only for one day, but should be used to renew your vows of fidelity at every opportunity. I eat breakfast in mine.”
No one understands this concept more than Princess Melita Bonaparte. “I personally think that the money spent on Castro Street was not a good idea. I needed more jewelry & a better wardrobe in my role as a Member of the Greek Royal Family. They could have extended the Marshal Plan to help with the Restoration of the Greek Monarchy.”
Anti-Monarchist hecklers surrounded Princess Melita Bonaparte & threw her into the path of her personal bulldozer. This sort of civil disruption is why she feels that she needs to return to Greece to restore respect & lawful government. She narrowly escaped with her life, but later granted a pardon to those who were uneducated as to recent events in Greek history. They walked away in awe & wonder–fully loyal to the Monarchy.
Can Tatoi Palace Be Made Fit For A King Once More?
“Look what has happened to the Tatoi Palace of my youth!” –weeps the Princess
“Tatoi Palace has become the Grey Gardens of Greece. It is a terrible shame what the Republic has allowed to happen.”
“The once beautiful & idyllic guest cottage must be brought back, otherwise, we will have to stay at Holiday Inn in Athens,” laments the Princess.

Wishing to make their stand perfectly clear in a world that hops from issue to issue, the government of Uganda (may we point out that Uganda is not a Monarchy?) has told Princess Melita Bonaparte that the assassination attempt on her life on Christmas Day 2013 was entirely her fault, that she brought it on herself by being a person who has no appropriate identity & who is ‘intrinsically disordered.’ Therefore, they have decided to issue a warrant for the destruction of all rabbits, being afraid & concerned that there could very well be a rabbit uprising any day now.
Rabbits, it seems, have taken over Australia, and the government of Uganda wants no part of having to repeat what the Australians have learnt the hard way. All rabbits have been issued ear tags, and their homes have been routinely stripped of all possessions.
We don’t know what most rabbits own, beyond the shirts on their backs, but Her Imperial Highness, is issuing a FULL PARDON to the Christmas Rabbit, admitting that she had fed the poor creature a bacon sandwich, and “It goes against their nature to eat diets that have any meat in them. So it really was my fault.” Princess Melita Bonaparte has attempted to contact all embassies, all unemployed Bonapartes, and the Windsor family, to be generous and help take in any rabbit that comes from the country of Uganda.
“All along it was my fault,” confessed The Princess. “I fed her a bacon sandwich, and rabbits don’t eat bacon. I have issued the Christmas Rabbit a full pardon & seek to help her relatives in Uganda find shelter.”
I won’t send them any of my cutlery, the Princess proclaimed in her annual State of February message–broadcast in 13 languages, starting in one more hour.
“My dear friends, loyal supporters, and dire enemies. We must set aside our differences to now come together to show solidarity for Uganda’s rabbit population. They are being traumatised beyond belief. Please, let us send a message of solidarity for Uganda’s rabbits. They are so much better than their government & deserve to be treated like the sentient beings that they are.”
Princess Melita Bonaparte has attempted to reach Pope Francis about this issue & is willing to help airlift rabbits seeking sanctuary to safety.
“If only the Greek government would restore our family to our rightful place in the order of things, we could invite the Ugandan rabbits to the Tatoi Palace, but it’s so terribly dilapidated, I doubt that they’d be very comfortable there.”
“IF my subjects and bitter enemies have any good suggestions as to what we need to do to approach the Ugandan government about not making everything illegal, please help us.”
“Mi case es su casa,” proclaimed Princess Melita Bonaparte of the Tatoit Palace. I hope they can overlook the condition.”
Princess Melita Bonaparte thought the Ugandan rabbits could eat the vegetation that has taken over the palace. “They would benefit us in this respect,” she was overheard saying.
The government (not a Monarchy, we repeat) of Uganda has erected a fence. Rabbits on the inside of the fence must fear for their lives. Those on the outside, looking in, must understand that they could be on the inside looking out, and not to get too comforatble.
“Make no mistake about it: Uganda is the newest Tea Party Colony. Soon they will have Wal-Mart & Boston Baked Beans. It will stink, believe me!”–Princess Melita Bonaparte
San Francisco: Powell & Market Street MUNI terminal entrance/exit. Her Imperial Highness, The Princess Melita Bonaparte, was attempting to do volunteer work, lending her name on behalf of the Grey Gardens of Greece, Tatoi Palace. “It’s in terrible condition, so much in need of restoration as is the Monarchy itself.”
Her selfless efforts were met with an unexpected & life threatening encounter with an escaped elephant, nearly causing her premature demise, and certainly spoiled her fund-raising efforts last weekend. “Funny how the controlled press did not report about this, they don’t care about my Greek relatives & the squalor that has befallen the Tatoi Palace, one of the homes for my Grandparents, Prince & Princess Andrew of Greece. My Grandmother was better known as being Princess Marie Bonaparte. They would both be so sad about the condition of the Palace.”
“I think the elephant is a lineal descendant of those used by Hannibal when he crossed the Alps a few years ago,” mused the still unnerved Bonaparte Heiress.
“It was a crime, a set up–to get rid of me, and keep the Greeks chained to that dysfunctional republic that is forever in debt. They need to put me in charge of things, that’s the best way!”
“This was an assassination attempt,” the Princess maintains. “Everyone saw it, and no one tried to help me.”
“If this had happened to Princess Anne, she would have gotten a saddle & ridden it in a horse show! But, Oh, no, the crowd was screaming “Kill! Kill!” Why do they hate me so?”
Princess Melita Bonaparte’s fund raising efforts go largely unnoticed as she barely escapes with her life. “I’d do it again, for the people of Greece,” claims the dedicated Imperial Royalist.
“Tatoi Palace is my home,” declares Princess Melita Bonaparte
“I want it back!”
